Happy Second Blogiversary To Me!
This past year, I've come to realize I did/do not want to expand into a community blog, and I do not want to limit myself being just a political blog. To that end, my inspiration has always been DJ Rix. We're both writers, although I write legal briefs on a regular basis, and he writes prose and poetry. Still, it's writing, and it takes a certain discipline to continue writing.
Before I had this blog, I kept diaries. I have over 20 volumes of written tome from 1980 to the present. In the late 1990's and early 2000, I had a hockey website that I enjoyed overseeing. When blogs became the fashion, I easily migrated to this forum, and have totally enjoyed expressing myself. As I've noted before, I originally thought I would do this blog for a small circle of friends I had been bugging by sending all these political links by email. My motive was to present the links with my little comments in the blog, and my friends could then peruse the blog at their leisure. I have had a handful of regular viewers, but for the most part, I just get hits from referral links usually garnered from a Goggle search. I try to put key words in my titles/headings so that things can be easily tracked.
I love blogging, and I have no intention of stopping or slowing down. I probably will change the format a tad (oh, and did I mention I do NOT like the new Goggle/Blogger/YouTube alliance).
UPDATE: Gotta thank skippy for the props.
Another Abstinence Only Advocate Caught Not Abstaining!
Deputy Secretary of State Randall L. Tobias submitted his resignation Friday, one day after confirming to ABC News that he had been a customer of a Washington, D.C. escort service whose owner has been charged by federal prosecutors with running a prostitution operation.
As the Bush administration's so-called "AIDS czar," Tobias was criticized for emphasizing faithfulness and abstinence over condom use to prevent the spread of AIDS.
OMG!
It always cracks me up when it is discovered that the most sanctimonious amongst us are usually the worst perpetrators.

Seven Words (Tee Hee Hee)
On the eve of my 2nd year of blogging, and with 8,000 hits and 1,213 posts ... I'm having a good laugh tonight.
I love this routine. This is classic.
Of course, next to the Seven Words You Can't Say On TV (shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker and titts) this is my fave. I saw him live at the Troubadour in the 1960's.

My Way
Dedicated to our troops, from this very liberal left winger.
(better video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wiVkdVPGoY)
Even funnier period video.
I was so into them that for a number of years, my Halloween costume was a female military outfit just like these, that I paid bucks for from a movie costume warehouse. When I get around to it, I'll scan the pictures and post them.

So, who inspired YOUR body art?
Definitely up there in my top five rock bands. And DEFINITELY the inspiration for my tattoos.
Props to Tracy and Roberta!
I'm glad I saw them perform live at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
This is probably my most favorite Gunner song.

"In fact, every year more Sunni Arabs hate us than the year before."
The Sunni Arab guerrillas in Iraq enjoy all the advantages of internal social and political mobilization-- sophisticated tactics, high-powered munitions, excellent networking and communications. They benefit from a vast Sunni Arab hinterland of support that includes the oil millionnaires of the Gulf (there are a lot of them and they hate to see fellow Sunnis mistreated)and the committed young professionals of Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, the Sudan, and North Africa.Juan Cole is spot on, as usual.
Against 6 million truly mobilized people, a mere 160,000 foreign troops is unlikely to prevail. The US lacks good intelligence on the guerrillas, and there is no prospect of it getting better intelligence soon. In fact, every year more Sunni Arabs hate us than the year before.

Aloha, Don Ho
Don Ho died today. Many, many, mainlanders know him for his famous Tiny Bubbles ditty.
I've tried to find something on YouTube, but to no avail.
As many readers of my blog know, I have a connection to the islands, starting with my granparents living there in the mid-1960's. It was at that time that I learned to do the hula and play the ukelele, and speak a bit local Hawai'ian. I moved there in the mid-1970's but did not like it, and returned to the mainland.
One job I had in the 70's on Ohau was as a cocktail waitress in Waikiki at this piano bar that was open after hours, serving booze and pupus (that's h'ors deurves in Hawai'ian). So, all the local entertainers and the stars that were performing, generally dropped in after their gig. I remember Don, as he never ordered booze, but he wanted a glass of soda water, and a pack of cigarettes (cannot remember if they were Winstons or Marlboros, after all these years). So, I always had that ready when he was at my station, and let me say, Don tipped well. One night he had hosted some friends (again, he wasn't drinking but he was running the tab for the friends) and his tip pretty much made my weekly rent! (Yeah, at the time, I was staying in some sleezy motel, with weekly rent).
Aloha au iâ `oe. Hana hou!
Gives New Meaning To "Break A Leg"
Corzine was the third straight New Jersey governor to break a leg while in office. McGreevey broke his left leg in 2002 during a nighttime walk on the beach, and Christie Whitman broke her right leg while skiing in the Swiss Alps in 1999.

RIP Kurt
Kurt Vonnegut whose dark comic talent and urgent moral vision in novels like “Slaughterhouse-Five,” “Cat’s Cradle” and “God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater” caught the temper of his times and the imagination of a generation, died Wednesday night in Manhattan. He was 84 and had homes in Manhattan and in Sagaponack on Long Island.
Ahhhhh..... Breathe in... breathe out.
Miss ya, buddy.
Job Search For War Czar Not Going Well For The Administration
“So rather than go over there, develop an ulcer and eventually leave, I said, ‘No, thanks,’ ” he said.
By retired Marine Gen. John J. “Jack” Sheehan, in response to this administration's offer to appoint him as a high-powered czar to oversee the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“The very fundamental issue is, they don’t know where the hell they’re going.”

Happy Passover
Passover is the 8 day observance commemorating the freedom and exodus of the Israelites (Jewish slaves) from Egypt during the reign of the Pharaoh Ramses II.
A time of family gatherings and lavish meals called Seders, the story of Passover is retold through the reading of the Haggadah. With its special foods, songs, and customs, the Seder is the focal point of the Passover celebration. Passover begins on the 15th day of the Jewish month of Nissan. As the Jewish day begins at sundown the night before, for the year 2007, the first night of Passover will be April 02nd. The final night of Passover 2007 will be April 10th.
