The Consumate Comic Genius - Jonathan Winters, RIP

I loved, LOVED, Jonathan Winters, since I was a young kid.  He was on a lot of television programs in the 1950's and 1960's and his humor was unique.   Here is a bit he did, improv, using a simple pen and pencil set.  Note:  You can see where Robin Williams got his inspiration.

RIP.

Cold, Dead Hand - You Decide, Funny Or Die?

I had to post this video from Funny or Die.  A lot of you may have already seen it, or heard about it.  But the reaction from Fox News is even more hysterical than the video itself!  (Courtesy of Crooks and Liars)

Greg Gutfeld:

“He is the most pathetic tool on the face of the earth. And I hope his career is dead, and he ends up sleeping in a car the way his life began. This video only made me want to go out and only buy a gun. He thinks this is biting satire and going after rural America and a dead man. Let’s talk about Charlton Heston. Charlton Heston was one of the first actors to be behind the civil rights movement and march. What did this jackass Jim Carrey do? He was behind the anti-vaccine panic. There are what, 165,000 people that died from measles last year, according to the World Health Organization.”

“Jim Carrey has killed more people than all the rifles combined,” Gutfeld continued. “He is a dirty, stinking coward. He is a moral coward. He did a video attacking rural America. But he wouldn’t do video about gangs, which kills way more people with handguns — he wouldn’t do that because he is worried about his career. Such a pathetic, sad, little freak. He is a jiberring mess. He is a modern bigot, he is a modern bigot. He is a bottomless pit of insecurity and the desire for acceptance is why he is doing this, because he knows in his heart he is a fraud.”

They doth protest too much, ya think?

"Get Off!" - David Steinberg

Back in the day when the Smothers Brothers had their television show, David Steinberg was one of the regulars.  He also wrote a number of the skits.  In fact, it was his skit about Moses that got the Smothers Brothers show canceled.

David had a recurring routine, which my family mimicked on a regular basis.  For years, I have been looking for a You Tube video of David doing this routine.  The best I could find was his psychiatrist bit which incorporated the "get off" phenomena.  What is not known to the new viewer is what David was trying to "get off" his shoulder!  It was an invisible creature/being.  My cousins and other friends would occasionally break out into a "get off" moment without explaining to anyone what we were doing, much like David does in this skit.  It was weird, and it was funny to us.  To this day, if you say "get off" most in my family will grab their left shoulder and throw the invisible creature off ...

Fun Videos To Lighten Up Convention Paralysis

A Belly Laugh For Sunday Morning

I think the majority of "magical thinking" aka "fantasy" amongst Repugs and christowhackos actually occurs while they're watching porn, but that's just me.

Funny stuff, courtesy of Alternate Brain. Read the entire post for a good Sunday laugh.

Was VP Pick Game Changer? Eh, Not So Much

No. For all clichéd gab about this being a “game-changer,” we already know that it’s not. The polls show at most a mild bounce so far. Many Americans have not a clue as to who Ryan is except as a card-carrying representative of the second most despised brand in America after the local cable company: Congress.

Ok, that made me laugh! H/T to Alternate Brain.

Newt Breaks Down In Boystown

I'm a little late on this, but I did find it funny! Newt's bus breaks down in "boystown" (West Hollywood, California)! As IF anyone was going to help them! Read the comments from the article, they are hilarious.

Women Reply To Darrell Issa

In light of the Darrell Issa hearings on women's birth control, where his now infamous panel lacked any women to discuss women's birth control ... Second City brings you this gem:

If You're Going To Drug Test, Test Everyone

A Republican member of the Indiana General Assembly withdrew his bill to create a pilot program for drug testing welfare applicants Friday after one of his Democratic colleagues amended the measure to require drug testing for lawmakers.

Cheech & Chong Santa Song!

This was funnier than shit when it first came out, and it still is funny. Closing out tonight with the comic duo's famous "Santa" song.

Rebecca Ferguson

I was watching The Graham Norton Show tonight, and they had this singer on that I had never heard of, Rebecca Ferguson. After doing some research I discovered she was part of that X Factor show (which I don't watch, puuuulllleeeezzzzeee, American Idol rejects, boredom at this stage of my life). But before I did research on her, I listened to her performance, and quite frankly, she reminded me, based on that one song, of a sober Amy Winehouse. I miss Amy, but hope you like this song.

Rebecca Ferguson - Nothing's Real But Love

P.S., the show was seriously funny, having one of my fave comic/actors on, Eddie Izzard, not to mention Robert Downey, Jr. and Judd Law pimping their Sherlock Holmes sequel.

Palin’s Emails Show More ‘Junk’ Than Weiner

Palin’s Emails Show More ‘Junk’ Than Weiner

I just thought this title was hilarious!

“EVEN THOUGH I WOULD NEVER EVEN READ A BULGING BRIEF, I DO KNOW THAT PAUL REVERE RODE AROUND WARNING BOTH THE BRITISH AND AMERICANS THAT ANTHONY WEINER WAS COMING.”

Who's On First?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I still get a belly laugh watching this performance!

We all need to laugh a lot, every day.

A Public Union Employee, A Tea Party Activist And A CEO Are Sitting At A Table . . .

A public union employee, a tea party activist and a CEO are sitting at a table with a plate of a dozen cookies in the middle of it. The CEO takes 11 of the cookies, turns to the tea partier and says, "Watch out for that union guy he wants a piece of your cookie."
Just spotted this on a friend's FaceBook page. Googled it and found it is out there on the InterTubes -- 457 results -- and since it pithily sums up a central dynamic of this political moment in America, I thought I'd post it here.

Pass it on.

Just passing it on.
