AEG To Sell Staples, KINGS (STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS) ... Why Does That Not Surpise ME?

I don't call Tim Leiweke "Lies Weekly" and "Lies Weakly" for nothing! I also don't call Phillip Anschutz "An Shits" for nothing! I do find it noteworthy that after they bought the Kings franchise back when I was a seasoned season ticket holder at the Forum (before they even built Staples, and when I had six seats for every fucking game, which I went to religiously, especially during the Gretzky era), I was LIED to by Lies Weekly and Anshits on a regular basis, both personally and overall as a "ticket" holder. They lied through their teeth about how they were going to build a Stanley Cup contender team, how they were going to build the team around franchise rock, Rob Blake (drafted by the Kings), and honor the fans with the most fabulous arena possible IF ... if ... we only would keep our season tickets for another season so they could get the financing in place to build IT so WE WOULD COME.

Flash forward several years later, after Staples was built, after they traded Rob Blake the MINUTE he became a free agent (where he eventually landed with the Colorado Avalanche AND won a Stanley Cup), and the Kings went cupless (even after the FUCKING DUCKS WON A CUP before them). I turned my tickets in to Mr. Lies Weekly before the 2000-2001 season ended, and was told not to let the door hit me on the way out.

Now, after the Kings actually DO WIN The Cup, what do they do? Oh, and let's not forget that AEG (and the boys) got everyone on the L.A. City Council to take the bite at building a football stadium next to Staples in order to bring football back to Los Angeles ... well guess what Los Angeles? You just got screwed over!

Ha ha ha ha ha ... I knew L.A. was never going to get football back, and quite frankly, I really don't give a crap. I love football, but I've loved not having a team here, because I don't have to deal with blacked out games, AND get to see the Chargers more often on the Tube. But, to dump the current Stanley Cup champions? Well, in any other city, that would probably be unheard of. But here in La La land, it's par for the course.

According to the mayor:

"I have worked with both Phil Anschutz and Tim Leiweke for years to bring a football team to Los Angeles. I speak to both of them on a regular basis and I have known about this potential sale for some time," the mayor said in a statement Tuesday night. "I have the commitment from both of them that this won't affect plans for an NFL team to return to Los Angeles in the near future and so will not affect my support for moving ahead with Farmers Field."

(Still laughing). And you believe that? Well, I have a stadium I could sell you!

WE WON THE STANLEY CUP, WE WON THE STANLEY CUP, WE WON THE STANLEY CUP

Heard that Kings were the first 8th seed to win the Cup ... have to check that out.

DAMN IT, WE WON!!!!!

Touch it, baby!!!!

Quick, MVP for Kings!!!!!

Man, I wish I was able to take the day off today to spend 6 hours at a fucking bar just to watch this game. I took Monday and Wednesday off last week, so I figured it was a bit much ... but I knew they would take it today.

That five minute major where the Kings scored three goals was the clincher. I don't think the Devils knew how to come back from that bad boarding call.

YEAHHHHHHHHHH GO FUCKING KINGS!!!!!

On To Game Six Back In L.A.

Not happy at all. I still feel the Kings will take it, but #1, I don't want Tony to get a pass on owing me any money (LOL), but I most certainly don't want it to go to seven games. Unlucky.

So, I live to see another game. Hopefully, we win it all on Monday.

Game 5, Baby!

Well, the Kings did not take it in four here in Los Angeles, but now that there is a chance for them to take it in FIVE games, poor Tony will be putting $100 into my PayPal account, LOL!

The bar I was at was so overpacked, they had to call in three more waitresses, and bring in 8 new boxes of bar glasses, they were running out so fast. My daughter came down and the line was around the block but I got her in for one period and then she had to leave to go do a photo shoot.

So, Saturday ... GO KINGS, DAMN IT!

Kings Take Commanding Lead In Stanley Cup

Countdown to win in Game Three (4-ZIPPPOOOOO) ... Bringing the broom Wednesday!

Go Kings! I've waited a long, long, long time for this.

Yeeeee Haaaawww! Kings Win Game Two, In Overtime!

I am going to be at one of those "parties" near Staples Center this Monday and/or Wednesday. Last time .... had season tickets. This time .... just begging! LOL!

We Win Game One, We Win Game One (Keep Repeating)

Keeping the streak alive! Kings take ANOTHER AWAY GAME and win in someone else's house! Stanley Cup - Kings 1, Devils 0. In overtime.

UPDATE: The score was Kings 2, Devils 1, in overtime. My meaning above is in the SERIES, the Kings are up one game to the Devils. My bad!

We're Going To Stanley Cup!

It was a wild night at my local watering hole, which actually closes at 10 or so. At least they lock the front door so you have to exit the back where the parking lot is. And even though I changed up my drink of choice (which resulted in my actually having less over the approximately four hours [it went into overtime]) as I was leaving the joint, I tripped on my pant leg and tumbled forward causing a huge gash in my knee. Damn! I am still recovering from it this morning, and may actually have to use my cane to help walk. But it was worth it in a strange way, to be with friends enjoying a brewskie and for the first time in 19 years, know the Kings will once again, play in the Stanley Cup finals. I was a season ticket holder when they went in 1993 (the 1992/1993 season, this is the 2011/2012 season) and I remember all the games back then, including the improbable game seven win against Toronto that put the Kings into the finals.

This particular Kings team, though, has all the makings of winning the cup for the first time in their 45 year history. Now all we have to wait for is who we will be playing, the Devils or the Rangers. I'm rooting for the Rangers. NYC vs LA will be a great publicity draw for the game of hockey, and should spike TV ratings.

Have To Wait One More Day

Unfortunately, the L.A. Kings could not close the door on the Coyotes this afternoon. Was it the early game time? I don't know. Part of the problem of having three different teams share the same arena and all are in playoffs (Lakers, Kings, Clippers).

I did pull out my Media Guide from the 1992/1993 season (we would receive these as season ticket holders). It was the only media guide from all the years I held season tickets, that I decided during pre-season (when they are given out) to have the players sign the damn thing. Who knew this team would be the only team thus far (well, the only Los Angeles Kings) that would go all the way to the Stanley Cup. Now, 19 years later, we are on the brink of our second trip. Hell, I even dusted off my old school hockey card collection, just to give it a look. Man, I have a lot of hockey cards (probably close to 1,000) but only a handful signed. I am going to have to look through them to find out how many rookie cards I have now!

See ya all on Tuesday. I hope I have something to celebrate, damn it!!!!!

We're Going To Stanley Cup ...

We're going to Stanley Cup, we're going to Stanley Cup!

This used to be our theme song back in the day when the Kings went to the Stanley Cup in 1993 (part of the 1992/1993 season) and this movie was out in 1992.

Yeah, baby! One more win, can you feel the power?

L.A. Kings Up Two, What City Am I Living In?????

Christian Petersen; Getty Images

Carter gets a hat trick (first playoff hat trick since The Great One did it in 1993). Two Coyotes get 5 minute majors and were ejected. Coyote goaltender Smith might be looking at some harder interference from the Kings come game three. Physical game? Absolutely! Kings win? Who thought they wouldn't? Seven straight games that the Kings win in the "other guys" house in the playoffs this year.

Boston Takes The Cup 2011 Style!

After everything is said about playoff games, whatever sport, and the plethora of images of the "losing" teams' (and sometimes the winning teams') fans rioting in the streets, I bring you Vancouver, after their loss.

Thomas was superb, and he deserved the Conn Smythe Trophy (um for those that don't know what that is, it is the MVP of the series).

Me loves me sum hockey!

What a way for Mark Recchi to end his career, eh?

This is when I generally start to get my groove on with football, but ... are we going to actually have a season?????

We Live To See A Game 7

And no, I am not talking about the gang of seven that ostensibly relate to the GOP frontrunners at the debate last night (which I had no interest in watching either). I'm talking about HOCKEY!

The four quick goals by Boston in the first period pretty much solidified there would be a game seven back in Vancouver tomorrow night. Thus far, each team has won at home so ...

I am still rooting for Boston, for whatever reason I do not know! But whichever team wins, this was one of the best Stanley Cup series I have watched in a few years.

The game should be very physical, and I would expect a lot of pushing, shoving and hopefully NO BITING!

Stanley Cup Comments Re Game 4 vs. SYTYCD Comments!

I cried so much watching SYTYCD tonight that I am sure my co-workers tomorrow will assume I was on a drinking binge! The puffy eyes, etc.

Season 8 has brought so many fucking talented dancers, including those that are unschooled (i.e., street dancers, crumpers, b-boys, etc.) who were able to master the art of jazz, contemporary, ballroom, just to name a few, that watching the eliminations that will eventually culminate to the 20 (10 boys, 10 girls) tomorrow will just KILL me!!!!!

And as a side note re hockey, HIGH FIVE to Boston for a consecutive kicking of Vancouver's butt in the Stanley Cup, which is now tied at 2-2!

I am, at heart, and will always be, a dancer. Just saying.

Vacounver Up 2 Games :(

Who knew Vancouver would be up 2 zip on Boston, eh? Wednesday's game was a zero/zero game until 18.5 seconds left in the third period where a puck got past Thomas.

Tonight's game was just as tight, but it was still tied at 2/2 by the end of third period. Unfortunately, Chara was not really on his man, and that caused the puck to cross over the line in roughly 11 seconds into the first overtime.

Now, on to Boston.

Stanley Cup Finals, Vancouver V. Boston

Game 7's are always exciting, especially in hockey. Steve Stamkos above, got hit in the face with the puck, but comes back, wearing a full cage face shield! He was out for about five minutes of game time. Only in hockey, baby! Real MEN!

It was a zero zero game until the third period, with about 7 1/2 minutes left, and Boston scored. Tampa's 1-3-1 format failed them and is what gave Boston that clear shot. Good luck in the finals against Vancouver.

Notice that no one touches the Wales Cup (nor did the Western division champs, touch the Campbell Bowl) as superstition in hockey is that the only cup touched is the Stanley Cup (although, over the years, a few players have touched it, such as Sidney Crosby in 2009, and I know Mario Lemiuex touched it a few times). Traditions and Superstitions.

Since 1991 there have been 4 times when a team's captain lifted their conference trophy and went on to win the Stanley Cup. Mario Lemieux (1991) and Scott Stevens (2000, 2003) both ignored tradition and left fingerprints on the Prince of Wales trophy. In 1997, Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman had no fear and lifted the Clarence Campbell Bowl, and a week later was celebrating a Stanley Cup victory.

Superstitions and traditions might not make any sense to hockey fans, but to hockey players, they're an important part of hockey life.

Whether hockey players grow beards during the playoffs, become best friends with the goal posts, walk or drive the same route to the ice rink each day, thats what makes the sport of hockey and hockey players so interesting.

We Live To See A Game 7

Boston just didn't have it, and Tampa pushed it to a game seven, this Friday. I'll be at my local watering hole, and will probably make them put it on the TV while tossing down a few drinks.

Still not sure, though, who I really want to stack up against Vancouver. Canada favorite Nuks, or Boston (hearkens back to the original six) or Canada vs. Land Of New Jersey Retired LOL!

I have a Tampa jersey ... no Boston jersey. Wonder if there will be hockey fans at the bar. I do control the remote from 5:00 p.m. on!

Vancouver Moves On, But "OY, What A Game!"

Into second over time and a lost puck was the one hit by Kevin Bieksa. It was a weird goal because everyone, including Anti Neimi, thought the puck hat gone out of play, and they were all looking up in the air for it. But it rebounded off the glass and came directly to Bieksa, who one-timed it past a clueless Neimi.

Game highlights, but at around 6:00 we get to second overtime, and the weird goal.
