30 Years Later, John Lennon, RIP

This is how most of us on the West Coast heard about it on that fateful Monday night. I was at a party at a house watching this game, when it was announced, and all of just freaked the fuck out, some of us started crying. Being on the West Coast, we had the rest of the evening with "breaking news" stories until all hours.

I tend to go visit the star every year here in Hollywood, and this year, we went early, before any sort of celebration was happening. It was already a zoo. I didn't bring a camera, just had my cell phone, so pardon my regularly blurry pictures!

I heard about it the following morning from David Hartman on Good Morning America. I was at Sheperd Center in Atlanta. The staff (therapists, doctors, techs, everybody), and especially us patients were in a real funk for a few days. It was the world turned upside down. I had little turntable in my room, and a copy of "Double Fantasy". Everyone appreciated hearing it during that time. Nobody minded me turning it up, either.
I'll bet every one of those people still remember where they were when it happened, like we do.

I'm still adding to this post. Trying to put up something from the double fantasy album.

Stay tuned. And go visit Free Zaire, just click on it on the post.

Can you imagine (!) the influence Lennon would have had on us progressives right now, had he not been killed --- not to mention on artists like Bono, Sting, Elton, many others (who seem to have lost sight)...ah,well.

Yeah, the government was obsessed with John Lennon ... sheesh ... all he preached was peace and let live and live. But they were all over him as a "dissident." From my point of view, we were all dissident's if you are my age and came of age in 1968 ...

I am glad to have shared the experience with my daughter tonight. She was born only a few months before John was murdered. I mark the anniversary of his murder along with my daughter's birthday.

I'm very angry tonight, but I am not really allowed to say stuff that is legal and connected to the "case" that is pending against my daughter. But, all I can say, is being "played" is not lost on me, or on my three lawyers that are in my daughter's corner. When it is all over, and I file my lawsuits, I can tell all. Legal restraints are a pain in the ass, let me tell you. And if we keep encouraging the same old same old with Bush/Obama regarding stats quo with regard to a whole shitload of procedures ... life as we have known it will dramatically change.
