Surprise? Coral Reefs Dying Off Gulf Of Mexico

Photo by Associated Press - Dying coral with attached brittle starfish photographed this week near the capped gulf oil well.

Well, well, well. Seems that the oil that "disappeared" from the Gulf spill has settled on the bottom, and is killing off coral reefs.

Drill, baby, drill, because, of course, Americans know there is no impact to the environment. Yeah, that's the ticket!

We haven't seen anything yet. This shit will plague us for a century or longer. (there's a plague you spoke of in your more recent post that I hope to see on the Chimp soon)...
My copter-flying relative is astounded and sickened by what he sees while flying the Gulf, and by what fishermen, rig-workers, and others relate to him.
The bastards killed the Gulf of Mexico, while Mr. Change will continue to let them get away with it.

I noticed that after I posted about this on Sunday, the "bigger" blogs were all over it on Monday! I guess I can still scoop some of them.

Regardless, it is sickening what government and big business have done to our country the past decade. New Orleans is still not fixed, expect for the touristy parts and where "white folks" reside. The Gulf disaster will resonate more than the Alaskan oil disaster, simply because the impact will be on more people in addition to the environment, while Alaska's spill was very much environmental, albeit slightly less impacting a smaller population. And while the Alaskan spill hurt Alaskan business that dealt with water and fishing, the aspect of tourism was not a factor in calculating those damages, while it is a factor in the Gulf, given such a large amount of income in that area is from tourism.

Just more of the rich getting away with murder while the poor go to prison for not having the money to pay for their bills.
