More Hiromi, The Bitch Ass Piano Player!
I am still not over my new obsesion with Hiromi Uehara. She is like from outer space. I come from a music family, and piano playing is a staple in said family. No one, I repeat, no one in my family plays like this.
I guess I'd have to say Thelonious Monk. Although I'm familiar with the great virtuoso jazz stylists, my favs seem to lean toward bandleaders, composers, & players with strong reps as accompanists. like Red Garland. Lately, I've even been digging some George Shearing in his latin pop phase, & Joao Donato's subtle Brazilian stuff. Funny, jazz pianists with wow technique rarely grab me, although I admire them.
At heart I'm a Hammond organ fan, especially the players who can work the bass pedals.

Got me thinking about who are my fav pianists & why I like them.
So, who are YOUR fave pianists? And why? Hiromi is exceptional, you have to agree.
