NBC just did a piece about today's gay rights march in Washington. For the political context of the gay community's ire, NBC went to Chief Washington Correspondent John Harwood. Harwood was asked if the White House was worried about "the left as a whole," and concerns they have that the White House isn't doing things that "the left" expected them to do. Harwood said the following:Unbelievable! The netroots which elected this president, and the GLBT network that worked their butts off to elect a president that ran on his opposition to their discrimination, now refers to the GLBT community as part of the "blogs," you know, those Cheetos eating, youngsters, in their parents basements in pajamas!Barack Obama is doing well with 90% or more of Democrats so the White House views this opposition as really part of the Internet left fringe.
Harwood then went on to say:
For a sign of how seriously the White House does or doesn't take this opposition, one adviser told me those bloggers need to take off the pajamas, get dressed, and realize that governing a closely divided country is complicated and difficult.
The right wing nutjobs have lost their enthusiasm for using that metaphor to describe the bloggers. I am surprised that the White House is now slandering the bloggers, and more importantly, the GLBT bloggers.
Nobel prize or not, if Obama doesn't get his "team" to recognize the netroots, and the GLBT part of the scheme, he will not survive the next election. We, the people, will put our money on someone else to run in the primaries against him. Trust me on this.

You betcha he's in trouble. & calling gay rights "the left" & a "fringe" won't help, because it doesn't encompass that range of issues. Not when it's about extending conventional marriage rights & wanting to serve the country in the armed forces.
