Stanley Cup - We'll Have To Wait Another Day

The oldest sports trophy.

In tonights game, which went three overtimes, the refs mostly kept the whistles in their pockets, which gave us fans a glimpse of games of the past -- fast and furious. (Although, the two goalie interference calls against Detroit were bogus, given the overall context of the overtime calls, i.e. NONE -- it was unfortunate re the four minute against Detroit in the third overtime). Pittsburgh needed to win to make it to another game and Detroit needed to win to hoist the cup. Detroit clearly dominated every period except the first, where it went down by two goals. Detroit came within 36 seconds of winning it in the third period, when Pittsburgh, with an empty net and an extra player, tied it up.

Detroit dominated the overtimes, but amazingly, Pittsburgh's goalie just kept blocking away.

My call was Zetterberg getting the winning goal for Detroit -- Unfortunately, the four minute penalty was it for Detroit. Game six in Pittsburgh ...
