That's riiiiight.... I had to look it up. I'd forgotten today was his birthday.

What a charming man he was. :)

A departure from the political commentary. It's nice to know those that read MY blog ALSO have an affinity for Iz.

I love his music, and I miss him, man.

I listen to his "In This Life" frequently. I like the version on the "IZ" CD. It told me everything I had to know about the man, hence my earlier comment terming him "charming".

I first heard "Over the Rainbow" as a bumpercut on George Noory's show one sleepless night as I was draining my heart while writing a comment to some Fascist racist putz who was, of course, a warmonger since he'd never seen it up close and personal.

The hairs on the back of my neck rose as I heard that mandolin strumming chords and that eerie, ethereal voice working a Garland standard in a way she would definitely have approved of, despite her fondness for full orchestration to help her past the long phrases, when her breathing gave her trouble.

I stopped everything and emailed Noory to find the name and performer of the bumper. I got my response within 10 minutes and had ordered the CD within 7 more.

Who says the internets are only for political propaganda? LOL
