Spanish ... So, Mexican, Cuban, Brazilian, Spanish?

So many people have no clue about "spanish" music.

I found it funny that at the Baja Fresh franchise (which offers primarily MEXICAN fare) they play Cuban music! They rarely play any Mexican music. It's always Cuban, or other South American songs.

Here's Cuban music:

El Negro Bembon

Here's Mexican:
Dicen.

My general rule of ear is if you can do the polka it's Mexican.

That's because of the "tuba" and "German" influence in Texas back in the age of rockets and defections. Bandera music grew out of Texans, Mexicans and Germans! LOL!

All that brings back memories of listening to my little transistor radio and hearing the powerhouse Cuban and Mexican AM stations booming out that sound...
That German influence shows up in alot of Mexican music. There were many German immigrants to Mexico and Central America in the late 1800's. I believe Linda Ronstadt has that in her heritage. We here in the Southeast were fortunate to have the X on the radio.
As for Cuban, you couldn't escape it, either. As much as Mexican is melody, Cuban is rhythm. And it was all over the dial. I still tune in from time. I'm one of those radio kinda people.
