Been Busy, New Posts To Start Soon

Between training the new person that will take over my old job (that I had for 12 years), and preparing for the new job (I will work next month half a day at new job, half a day at old job still training), as well as anticipating my grandson's arrival (and the vaunted custody evaluation that starts today, FINALLY), there has been little from me by way of posting. Mind you, I have bookmarked a lot of stories I want to comment on, so don't be surprised if all of a sudden, Sunday contains a boatload of new posts!!!!

I'm just lucky that I was able to up and quit a job on a Thursday, and get hired for a new one on Friday, without so much as having to pick up a phone or spend any time looking! Ah, isn't having a great reputation in my industry great! Oh, an Tony ... looks like I'll be joining the ranks of the taxpayers (LOL) so now I'll finally be able to say a lot more about "taxes."

Also, look for fun and new pictures of my grandson, who is growing so fast he is almost as tall as me!

Can You Feel The "Heat?"

You know, I'm from Los Angeles, so, of course I'd be a Laker fan, duh! But, the caveat is that I was a fan until Kobe became a Laker. Fortunately, I had Clipper Season Tickets ... so it was not difficult to just be a fracking Clipper fan!

But, I'm kind of a closet Miami fan (think Shaq), and so ....

FUCKING "A" MIAMI!!!!! You decimated Oklahoma. No wonder I left my local bar so early, ha ha.

My Daughter Did It! A College Degree!

I am so proud I can bust inside! I have cried all day I am so happy for her. AND she is working (although it is just seasonal until October) at a photography studio that specializes in graduation photography! And, NO, she's not working in the darkroom, she is actually taking the pictures. One of the few graduates that is actually working in her field, a rarity. Getting a job is already hard enough.

She tagged me over at my Facebook page, and trust me, my crappy cell phone pictures are nothing compared to hers, so go check it out (Carrie Cann) and see all the fun and her friends and professors and what not. ENJOY!!!!!

P.S., it was interesting hearing the main speaker who recently left a position with the Obama administration to head up a UC college up north, talk about the battle over the interest rate on student loans (which made me yell out something about crappy republicans getting off of their assess -- I mean, for real??????). There were a lot of Obama plugs in his speech, but they did relate to "education" so they were relevant, especially to this 2012 graduating class.

Random Thoughts For Today

I haven't posted much lately. The politics part of my blog is lacking in material, mainly because I have become detached from it all. The obscene amount of corporate and individual billionaire dollars being pumped into the political spectrum, including elections, belies the fact that this country is supposed to be "of the people," etc. We have reached an unhealthy level of tolerance for monied opinions, regardless of whether there is a spark of truth to the opinions or not. I mean, the decision in North Carolina (or whatever place it was, excuse me if I don't feel like dredging up the exact place) to dismiss critical science on the rise of tide levels because it would affect the ability to build on land that would be unsustainable in the future, just galls me. To knowingly ignore science for the sake of raking in a few bucks, and unfortunately at the unknowing buyer's loss, doesn't seem to strike political leaders as wrong. I almost don't have the stomach to deal with such lies for the sake of a buck, especially when the buck goes to the one that already has all the bucks.

One good thing is that my daughter will graduate from college tomorrow, receiving her B.A. I look forward to attending the festive occasion, even if it means getting up at an ungodly hour as the ceremonies start at 8 a.m.

One bad thing, I no longer have a job. Yes, I have joined the ranks of the unemployed. It's a scary feeling being 60 and not having any money coming in. I am almost contemplating putting up a PayPal contribution link to help get by for now.

WE WON THE STANLEY CUP, WE WON THE STANLEY CUP, WE WON THE STANLEY CUP

Heard that Kings were the first 8th seed to win the Cup ... have to check that out.

DAMN IT, WE WON!!!!!

Touch it, baby!!!!

Quick, MVP for Kings!!!!!

Man, I wish I was able to take the day off today to spend 6 hours at a fucking bar just to watch this game. I took Monday and Wednesday off last week, so I figured it was a bit much ... but I knew they would take it today.

That five minute major where the Kings scored three goals was the clincher. I don't think the Devils knew how to come back from that bad boarding call.

YEAHHHHHHHHHH GO FUCKING KINGS!!!!!

Interesting World Globes

I bought this globe for $5 at a garage sale today.

Here is a picture of one with a different stand, but obviously in better condition. Another one to check out as well.

Here is a picture of another one, again in better quality, but more in line with the stand I have (except someone seems to have painted the stand on mine).

This is the label on the globe. It is obviously from the 1930's, and some of the countries on the globe do not even exist anymore.

I've always had an interest in globes and maps.

Bottom line, if this Hammond's globe was even close to being in mint condition, it'd be worth close to $2,000!!!! I'd have to check, but even in the condition mine is in, it should be worth a few hundred dollars. Not bad for a $5 investment!

I also got another globe, but I'll take pictures of it and post about it later.

On To Game Six Back In L.A.

Not happy at all. I still feel the Kings will take it, but #1, I don't want Tony to get a pass on owing me any money (LOL), but I most certainly don't want it to go to seven games. Unlucky.

So, I live to see another game. Hopefully, we win it all on Monday.

Game 5, Baby!

Well, the Kings did not take it in four here in Los Angeles, but now that there is a chance for them to take it in FIVE games, poor Tony will be putting $100 into my PayPal account, LOL!

The bar I was at was so overpacked, they had to call in three more waitresses, and bring in 8 new boxes of bar glasses, they were running out so fast. My daughter came down and the line was around the block but I got her in for one period and then she had to leave to go do a photo shoot.

So, Saturday ... GO KINGS, DAMN IT!

Yeeeee Haaaawww! Kings Win Game Two, In Overtime!

I am going to be at one of those "parties" near Staples Center this Monday and/or Wednesday. Last time .... had season tickets. This time .... just begging! LOL!
