Skirts Below The Knees?

I am not going to cut and paste any of this, but you have to go read the full blog post to understand the idiocy that is Wisconsin's Scott Walker. Seriously, taking away the coffee pots? Making the female teachers wear skirts below their knees? What era are we in? 1960's? Oh yeah, that IS what these nut job Republicans want. I forgot! It was soooooo much better back in the 1950's when women did not have to work (even if they wanted to, most of the men would not let them work), and their only job was to pop out babies and service their husbands!

I'm reminded of Our Miss Brooks. Sassy, smart, independent Eve Arden wasn't paid enough to keep a car on the road, had to scrape savings to buy a new dress, & was expected to do demeaning errands for dictatorial & unethical principal Osgood Conklin.

Yeah, and I am reminded of my days at Catholic school where we had to put our knee on a chair and if our skirt was not touching the chair, we were sent home to change. I do believe I held the record for most times being sent home!

My public school had a dress code in the Sixties. Skirts mid-knee (although oddly, they banned granny dresses when those became fashionable in '66, early hippie style), no jeans, boy's hair mid-ear, above shirt collar, clean sideburns. Made me trim my hair, & I just wanted a Charlie Watts cut, which was neatly layered over the ears & well groomed,

Gosh, it was The World Turned Upside Down when I went to school in my late-sixties-early-seventies era here in the south...we were all long hair, patchouli and bell bottoms...the admins never knew what what hit them or what to do about us...dress codes came after I was done.
