Fat Tuesday, Baby!

I usually post a live web stream from New Orleans. For some reason, everything is on "down" mode right now, but then again, it's still on the west coast not quite Fat Tuesday! Tomorrow will be all the partying. Hopefully, I can update the post with the live streams.

Ma Tit Fille - Buckwheat Zydeco

Now, there's also another side of Mardi Gras ... Brazil style (carnival), tee hee hee!

!!! again.
I got to see Buckwheat twice here locally. He is kind of a legend here for remarkable shows. I got to play some zydeco over the years, and it was much inspired by Stanley and snap beans and okra, and I'm not kidding.
Can't begin to imagine the spectacle of Rio at Carnival.
Best music in town.

...had to add this...imagine a zydeco band that shook the ground like thunder and had the same effect on the crowd. That's them.

New Orleans Mardi Gras and Rio's Carnival are really two different things, even though they overlap. One of my Brazilian friends even wanted to take issue with me for putting the two in the same post. Psshhhhhaaaattt, shut the F up!

They are two different types of events but they are borne of the same Christian ideology, LENT ...

And speaking of Lent, what are YOU giving up??? LOL. I've not been a Catholic since I was 16 and changed my religion, but it doesn't mean I don't know what I grew up with, right?

I had dinner tonight at my newly established regular bar and grill (ok restaurant) but the bartender says to me when I walk in, "hey, lady, double Bacardi and diet?" Ha ha, like Cheers ... you know where you are when you are there! I triple tip there. Hell, when I asked for a single shot, I got this long tall glass that I swear had three shots in it!

"Alons ...."

We Baptists don't give anything up for Lent, we just try harder not to be seen at the liquor store.
Etoi!
