No Real Debate Here, Move Along, Nothing To See

At the insistence of the McCain campaign, the Oct. 2 debate between the Republican nominee for vice president, Gov. Sarah Palin, and her Democratic rival, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., will have shorter question-and-answer segments than those for the presidential nominees, the advisers said. There will also be much less opportunity for free-wheeling, direct exchanges between the running mates.

McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage and largely on the defensive.

An inexperienced debater? That's the reasoning? God forbid she should actually have to "know" about the United States, and be on her "toes" to take questions about, oh, I don't know, politics, maybe? Well, that's what is to be expected when Barbie is the vice presidential nominee of the Republican party! How about we just put a string on her back and pull it, and a recording comes out of her mouth? That is the extent of any real debate we will see from this woman, anyway, so why go on with the charade?

"Stupid is as stupid does" should be the slogan for the Republicans this year.
