"Public Resources To Secure Profits For Private Companies"

The argument about whether Cheney/Bush went into Iraq over petroleum is not interesting. Of course they did, one way or another. The question is what exactly they thought they were doing about Iraq's petroleum. I would argue that they threw public resources (perhaps as much as two trillion dollars worth when all is said and done) to secure profits for private companies. Otherwise, the US public will never, ever realize the sort of savings from the development of Iraqi petroleum that would compensate them for the blood and treasure they have spent in Iraq. (Not to mention the opportunity costs of squandering so many resources on a quagmire, when the public investment could have been put to much better uses).

Well said.

Rain, Rain, Don't Go Away

I've been listening to the rain for about an hour, now. I have all the windows open. We don't get a whole lot of rain here in Los Angeles.

RIP, JOE

I have to admit I didn't know Zawinul from the Coltrane days, even though I've subsequently obtained "Bitches Brew."

I got into Zawinul from Weather Report. I was, and still am, a huge jazz fusion fan. This band in the early 70's really rocked.

"Birdland" still is my favorite Weather Report song, and among my top 5 jazz fusion favorites.

RIP, Joe.

I'm Still Not Over 9/11

Been light blogging for weeks. Office is keeping me very busy since we are short an attorney until the end of the year. That leaves me very little time to even read blogs, let alone post on mine.

I'm still here, and will continue blogging once I have my office back up to full staff. Until then, why don't you visit the archives. I was a lot more militant in 2005!
